I’ve been offered a place at the School. When does this offer become binding and give rise to legal obligations?
Your offer letter will set out the acceptance deadline, the process by which you can formally accept the offer, any conditions attached to the offer, and the deadline and process for satisfying those conditions before registration and enrolment. Once you formally accept the offer, whether conditional or unconditional, it will give rise to a legally binding contract and you will be legally bound by it, subject to any cancellation rights set out in the terms and conditions, including, where applicable, the 14-day cancellation right for distance or off-premises contracts. If the offer is conditional, you may formally accept it before satisfying the conditions, but the School’s obligation to register and enrol you is conditional on you satisfying the conditions of the offer by the relevant deadline. If you satisfy the conditions, the School will confirm that your offer is unconditional or that you may proceed to registration and enrolment. No further acceptance is required unless the School proposes new or changed terms, in which case your express agreement will be required. The contract will include obligations to pay any fees due and to complete registration and enrolment requirements in accordance with the full terms and conditions. |
Is there a “cooling-off” period in case I change my mind?
Yes. If you have formally accepted an offer from us away from our premises, then you have 14 days in which to cancel the contract from the moment of formal acceptance. This can be done via a cancellation form that can be completed and submitted on our Student Portal or School website (Contract Cancellation and Permanent Withdrawal Form), or by making a clear statement to cancel the agreement via a letter to our official address above, or by email to admissions@ls.ac.uk. Where you have expressly requested that services begin during the 14-day cancellation period, any refund due may include a proportionate deduction for services supplied up to the date of cancellation, in line with our Refunds and Compensation Policy. |
Can the School terminate my contract?
The School can terminate the contract if there is a material breach, failure of condition, or other circumstance that entitles the School to terminate under the full terms and conditions. Examples include supplying false, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information in your application, failing to complete registration, failing to satisfy any conditions of your offer letter by the applicable deadline where those conditions are requirements for registration, enrolment, continued registration, or immigration compliance, failing or ceasing to meet immigration requirements, or failing to pay tuition fees by the relevant deadlines. The School will apply the appropriate regulations and policies and the procedures contained within them. |
How will the School protect my Personal Data?
The School will ensure the protection of your personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Our Data Protection Policy and Student Privacy Notice outline how we will process your personal data and under what conditions it may be shared. |
What do the School’s terms and conditions say on School’s liability?
The School will be liable to you for any direct and foreseeable loss or damage you suffer if it fails to reasonably carry out the obligations under the contract it has with you. It will also be liable for any breaches of duty that the law imposes on it. The School will not be liable for any delay or failure to carry out its obligations under this agreement where that delay or failure is the result of events beyond our reasonable control and which we could not have foreseen or avoided even with the exercise of reasonable care. Except for any liability in negligence for death and personal injury, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any matter it cannot exclude or limit by law, its total liability resulting from a breach of contract or statutory duty, or resulting from tort, misrepresentation, or any other liabilities, is limited to the value of tuition fees paid by you to the School. The School does not in any way limit its liability for: - Death and personal injury caused by negligence on the part of the School or its staff; - Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; - Any matter it cannot exclude or limit by law. |
I am an international applicant. Can the School help me with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (“CAS”)?
The School invites applications from international students. It can issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (“CAS”) to facilitate a visa to study in the UK. An international student may be required to pay or agree to pay a deposit as a condition of the offer or before the School issues a CAS. Before issuing a CAS, the School will require the international student to have formally accepted the offer and satisfied any CAS-related conditions, including payment of any required deposit. The offer letter will also contain any other conditions that the international student must satisfy before the School issues a CAS and/or before registration and enrolment. |
What happens if I breach my contract, or the School’s Regulations?
It is important that you understand the School’s terms and conditions, and regulations and policies as well, as a failure to follow them could amount to a material breach allowing the School to terminate the contract. A failure to satisfy a condition of your offer by the applicable deadline may also mean that you cannot register, enrol, continue registration, or receive a CAS, where relevant. In all cases, the School will investigate any alleged breach under the appropriate regulations and policies and the procedures contained within them. All evidence will be duly considered, and all procedures will be exercised fairly. The School will provide all necessary help and support, including through its Student Success Team. For example, if you use someone else’s work without giving them the credit they deserve (plagiarism), your marks may be lowered, or you may have to retake the assessment. If it is determined that you have attempted to get an unfair advantage (cheating), your studies may be terminated. |
What happens if I misuse School’s IT services?
If you misuse the School’s IT services under its regulations and policies, the School may remove your access to these services and initiate a disciplinary investigation. |
What does the contract say on the use of the library and resources?
By accepting the offer, you agree to use the School's library and resources in strict compliance with licences and conditions, including not sharing, altering, or using materials commercially. Access is limited to authorised users with unique credentials. The School reserves the right to amend terms without notice; continued use signifies acceptance. You must comply with all copyright and licensing regulations. Subject to any applicable limitations, the School disclaims liability for misuse, and you agree to indemnify it for any violations. Breaching terms may result in suspension or expulsion and further disciplinary action. |
What happens if I do not pass my assessments?
You may have to retake some or all the assessments, and in some cases, you may not be awarded a degree or other qualification. Please see the School’s assessment regulations, which can be found on the School’s website. If you have any further questions, please contact admissions@lsi.ac.uk |
How do I make a complaint about something that has affected me?
The Student Complaints and Academic Appeals Policy outlines how you can raise a formal complaint. If the issue is not resolved through the School’s internal procedures, a Completion of Procedures letter will be issued. You may then refer your case to the OIA for review. |
The following metrics will be measured and regularly reviewed as key performance indicators for LSI to ensure the effectiveness of this policy and associated operations.
