The LSI Catalyst Scholarship is a competitive, merit-based award for exceptional applicants who want to use technology to create measurable positive impact. This scholarship is designed for students with an excellent academic or professional track record and a serious intent to launch, lead, or contribute meaningfully to a tech-for-good initiative. That may include work in areas such as education, health, accessibility, sustainability, civic technology, responsible AI, social inclusion, public-interest innovation, or other forms of technology-led positive change.
Successful applicants must show not only that they have the ability to thrive academically, but also that they have a credible sense of purpose. LSI is looking for people who are likely to turn advanced digital and AI knowledge into something useful beyond their own career progression.
The Catalyst Scholarship covers 75% of tuition fees for any eligible LSI master’s programme. Awards are limited and competitive. Scholarships are granted based on the strength of the applicant’s academic or professional record, the quality of their statement, and the credibility of their proposed tech-for-good direction.
To qualify, you must satisfy all of the following:
- Hold an unconditional offer for a full-time LSI master’s degree.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree with first-class or strong upper second-class honours, or hold another master’s degree, or demonstrate an exceptional professional track record equivalent to strong academic achievement.
- Provide evidence of an excellent academic or professional track record. This may include degree certificates, transcripts, professional achievements, portfolio work, awards, publications, senior responsibilities, entrepreneurial activity, or other relevant evidence.
- Submit a personal statement showing your intent to launch, lead, or contribute to a tech-for-good initiative using the knowledge and skills gained from your LSI degree.
- Demonstrate a clear link between your chosen LSI programme and your intended area of positive impact.
- Show the potential to act as a strong representative of LSI’s mission and values.
Personal statement requirement
Applicants must submit a personal statement of up to 1,000 words covering:
- Their academic or professional achievements.
- The tech-for-good initiative they intend to launch, lead, or contribute to (it can be a theme if the exact project is not yet defined).
- The problem or opportunity the initiative addresses.
- Why the issue matters.
- How the selected LSI master’s degree will help them make progress.
- What practical impact they hope to create after graduation.
- Why they should be selected over other strong applicants.
